Hotel Balneolum *** Superior  - Quedlinburg, Germany     

New hotel outside of the citycenter, with a very ugly surrounding (old windowless office and factory buildings). Positive: - Swimmingpool, bubblebath, sauna, hammam all very nice and brand new. - Staff very friendly Negative: - Twin bed room was rather small, and both beds stood next to the wall. When sitting on the bed, one touched the bedsid which came rather high. - Surrounding (as stated above + a school with noisy kids at the back. This hotel does not appear in the local magazines, because the editor has had a disagreement with the owners. Why we don't know, but we spoke with the editor ourselves, and it had mainly something to do with the surroundings. Probably also because they didn't want to pay his publicity rates. If you look for a clean hotel in order to visit Quadlinburg and have a relaxing swim before dinner, then this could be your place. If you don't plan to use the swimming pool or sauna, then the price might be too high.

This hotel just opened this Summer. It is medium sized, just over 20 rooms. The rooms are light, modern (of course!), nicely and thoughtfully decorated. Modest in size. Views on the city are best from the top (3rd) floor. The hotel has a sauna and swimming pool (free of charge), both of medium size. It offers several wellness services (at a fee), and they can be booked half a day in advance. Breakfast buffet is correct (fruits, yoghurts, cereals, several kinds of bread, cheese, meat and jams), staff is very friendly. Location: on a hill, very quiet surroundings, at the back of the railwaystation, about 10 minutes walk from the station, and 20 minutes easy walk from the city center. Parking is free at the outdoor parking (looks safe) and or at the underground parking (Eur 9 / day). A pleasant place to stay.
