Hotel Ritter - Milano, Italy 

Firstly, this hotel is in a great location. It is very central in a leafy green part of town. The only problem is if you drive in (as we did) parking is a real problem and you generally have to pay for any space that you find. The room itself was clean, but basic and definitely in need of updating. It all looked very 1970s. Also, for a three star hotel the single glazed windows were really not acceptable. We stayed there on Saturday night and wanted an early night. We were kept awake until 3am because even with all the windows closed we could hear every bit of noise from the main street below. Breakfast was also below par with a very average and somewhat limited buffet display that gives the impression that they are trying to cut corners and save money. To end on a positive note, the reception staff were very friendly and helped us to locate an indian restaurant in Milan. No mean feat, when everywhere you look it is pizza and pasta!

I stayed at the Hotel Ritter in March this year - after reading some bad reviews on here I was a little dubious. However, after four days here I thought we had really good value for money in a great hotel. The rooms were lovely and clean and very big. The breakfast was simple continental breakfast with cereals etc - good enough for me! The location was fab - just two minutes walk from the subway with links to anywhere you would want to go in Milan. Would definitely recommend this hotel for those travelling on a budget. If you are going - I would recommend a trip to Lake Como if you have chance - take the train to Como Lago - takes about an hour - great for a day trip! Enjoy!
