Catalonia Oro Negro - Playa de las Americas, Spain     

My husband, myself and our 1 year old daughter have just returned from the Oro Negro. We had a great time. We cannot fault the hotel. The food was much tastier than we have had a in 4* hotel. The room was nice. Definitely no cockroaches. The pool area is roped off in sections of depth which then makes it quite a small area where you can stand up. I think if I knew this in advance it would have put me off, but it was not a problem. The large area of the pool ranged from 2.6m to 3m deep. Towards the end of the holiday we started to join in with the entertainment, and it was great. The staff are brill. The location of the hotel is fine in so far as up a hill. It is not a steep hill. The front of the hotel is on a busy main road, however this was not a problem as our room faced the pool and we never heard any traffic. The hotel exceeded our expectations and we would stay there again.

Although this hotel is in a great location, for shopping and the beach we found that as a young couple staying in this hotel, it was more like Gods waiting room for the spanish and german. Our room was spacious, had a lovely view of the sea, but unfortunately we found cockroaches in our bathroom. we reported this to reception, who did Not deal with it! other than that our room was lovely. If your looking to go to this hotel, i would recommend that you went self catering, as the food there is either under cooked and raw or just not worthy of putting on your plate. Reception speak very little english and were not helpful at all. All in all this hotel is catered for tthe Elderly, who dont mind sleeping and bathing with cockroaches, eating rubbish food or recieving poor service from the restaurant.
