Des Bains - Venice, Italy     

Wow! One of my fave places in the world! If you are in Venice for one night it is not your best option but if you are there to stay for a few days it is just perfect. You can get to Lido by vporetto or by the free shuttle leaving from the neighbouring Excalibur every hour. Rooms are huge and bright, the pool is refreshing and breakfast is delicious and what makes it even better is that you can sit on the terrace. The beach is right across the street too. You get up in the morning, have breakfast, take the shuttle/vaporetto to Venice and enjoy it until lunch when you go back tot he hotel to rest and take a dip in the pool and then in the aftenoon you go back to Venice again...Ahh...

We too did not know that the hotel had had a recent fire. The hotel is in the process of "updating or fixing" Does not matter. We orginally booked 2 rooms, close to each other. Not only were they not close to each other, they were on different floors and different parts of the hotel they could only be accessed by different elevators. So my family was not together. The hotel had heavy paint fumes. We switched rooms, by midnight we "settled on a room that had an airconditioner that barely worked and had mold all around the vent. We were not the only people having problems. There were several people also switching rooms because of the paint smell. The location may be great, but this hotel is VERY RUN DOWN!! Lobby area was HUGE...but hardly any furniture. This place has great potential and Sheraton should do something about it.
