We've just come back from a week at the Platanista and i was so sad to leave. This is the second time i have stayed at this hotel and it was just as fantastic as the first. Everywhere in the hotel is a very high standard, everywhere is spotlessly clean and very well maintained. The grounds are beautiful, lovely tiling and paths, flowers and fountains everywhere. There is a nice childrens park and tennis courts, two lovely pools and jucuzzi. There is also a gym, beauty salon and sauna. There was plenty of sunbeds enough for everyone and it never felt overcrowded. The staff are lovely, very well mannered and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are very nice, a good size, with a tv and mini bar.Maid service every day. Safety deposit boxes too rent and pool towels 3E each a week but you get a fresh one everyday.
And the food well what can i say apart from it was fantastic, a massive and different selection everyday, all the hot food was red hot and all the cold was..cold. There was something even for the fussiest person. The hotel is a way from town but a five minute taxi or bus ride, we caught the bus as the stop is at the end of the drive and there was one every 10 minutes. I will definately be going again. i just wish i was there right now.

Just returned from a great week at Hotel Platanista. Wish we had booked an extra week.
We had a nice bedroom with balcony overlooking the gardens. One morning wnen we woke up, we found 3 tiny kittens cuddled up and asleep on one of the chairs. How they had managed to climb up at their age, I don't know. We heard the mother crying out for them below, so we carried them down to her.
The buffet breakfasts and dinners were excellent. Plenty of choice. The breakfasts were pretty much the same each day ( as you would expect ), but the dinner main course items and the soups and sweets did change each day.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful.
There are a lot of sunbeds around the 2 pools, but, with the hotel being full, most of the beds were taken each day.
We only took 2 trips. One of these was a 3 island boat trip from Kos Town. This was a most enjoyable day. Please note that it is much cheaper to book direct with the Ship in the harbour, than it is with your Tour Company. We were careful to book on a Sailing Ship that we felt was not likely to be full i.e. it was not one of those used by the Tour Companies. This worked out fine. There were enough people on board to create a nice atmosphere, but there was still plenty of room to lie down and sunbathe. A barbecue lunch was included, and there was also time given to swim direct off the Ship in the clear water. Our second trip was an island tour by Buggy, which we hired just down the road out of the Hotel. The tour was led by Marco, the Animation/Entertainment Team leader, and this was so much more fun than seeing the island by car or coach. There were 5 couples on the tour - 3 from England - 1 from Holland - 1 from Germany. We all formed quick friendships, and most evenings from then on, we met up and enjoyed socialising together.
A special word of praise to Marco and his team, who worked really hard to get people involved in things like Water Polo and Water Aerobics during the day and in some of the evening entertainment ( there was no pressure to take part, but those of us who did thoroughly enjoyed ourselves ).
Finally, we found an ice cream shop on the way into Kos Town, that has the best ice cream I have ever tasted. Wonderful variety of flavours. I cannot rember the name of the shop, but it is pretty much the first shop you get to in Town on the right hand side coming from the Hotel ( just before the Bus Company offices and a small bus station ). The shop has other lovely looking desserts also. Do try.
To conclude, a wonderful hotel on a lovely island.
