Arrived Monday 16th June for 4 nights, got train from Airport dont worry about ticket pay on train. As two pensioners with suitcase got a taxi and paid ?4 with tip. Hotel in a nice side street with supermarket and great bottle shop at end of road. If you come out of the hotel and turn left you cant go wrong for drinks/eats etc . We did Auschwitz by local bus very easily and obviously cheaper. Did the English speaking tour which at 4 hours long 40 Zl I thought good value. The salt mine also very interesting. Our hotel room was on the first floor and on the front with a balcony. This was a double edged sword as lovely to sit out with a glass of wine at night, but because we dont have traffic noise at home had to sleep with the windows shut and whilst OK in mid June I would imagine this room will get quite hot July/August as the first 2 floors not air conditioned, bear this in mind you might want to pay extra for a better room. Breakfast superb. Pancakes one morning sausage and potatoes another and always boiled/fried/scrambled eggs to order along with fresh toast and the usual continental cheese/meats etc. For the price ?75 a night--hotel.com-- its a super hotel in a very convenient location and clean and bright. We also ate in the hotel 2 nights which was good value and good food. We ate at La Fontaine one night cost an arm and a leg and nouvelle cuisine so straight in McDonalds for a Big Mac. Yes even 70 year olds can be Phillistines. The jewish area well worth a visit the cafe opposite the hotel Ester good value . All in all alovely 5 day break and for VALUE lets not forget its a 3 star hotel the Amber gets my vote

Great location just outside the Old Town and quite easily accessible with a car. And location is probably all this place to offer. The hotel is pricey - but that is perhaps just Krakow? - the rooms would even in Denmark cost less. The breakfast buffet was minimal, but at least provided local Polish dishes, but very little fruit. With some smiles from especially the breakfast staff you could actually feel welcome... The reception staff, though, was kind and friendly, but superficial in a major hotel chain kind of way.
A downside is that the hotel provides no safe in the room.
