Austria Hotel Athens has been operating successfully since 1984, when it first opened its doors to the demanding Greek and the International public. A new 3-star, low-rise city hotel, built in an eminent and peaceful area, across the evergreen Filopappou hill and close to the Acropolis. It's just a few minutes walk from the shopping area of Koukaki, other places of interest and the historical centre of Athens. It's also only a few minutes walk to the public transportation, like the metro and bus, and close to Athen's main avenue Sygrou.

This place was a last resort for me...I had to stay here because my family booked the hotel and paid for it so out of common courtesy i but my tounge and stayed anyway. my fisrt night i was in a room that had no telephone and the tv did not work either. The entire room was outdated and dirty! the bathroom was just plain discusting! it had a very uncomfortable shaped tub that forced you to sit down to shower. the ceiling had peiling paint and mildew and mold was growing on the walls. I finally was moved to the room next door since it had a working phone line. The room itself was a bit roomier and it had a nicer patio (allthough the view from the patio was terrible!) This bathroom was even worse! it had a small corner shower stall with mildew growing all over the shower curtain! water sprayed everywhere in the bathroom and soaked the entire floor after each shower. The toilet did not flush very well (i will leave your imagination to picture that) and the water tasted terrible!!! DO NOT DRINK THE WATER OR USE IT TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH, USE BOTTLED WATER ONLY!!! the safe did not work forcing my to load my suitcase and keep it locked everyday when i went out. they had wireless internet access in the lobby (could only get a signal in one corner of the lobby) but the signal was terribly weak! I was there for 5 nights and will never return! the room was 65 euros a night and for what i got was a ripoff!!

we considered this hotel intially, when planning in the States. But the reviews turned us off. Then we found ourselves at the bus station, needing a hotel for that night. With our other choices full, we remembered this one. The room decor was stylish, and clearly recently renovated. The bathroom however, was not renovated, as evident by the mold growing on the ceiling, wall, and shower walls. The location is very close to the acropolis. A great location for exploring that area and Plaka. Its also a simple walk to the metro, yet its all uphill, and up stairs. About ten minutes perhaps. Caution to those backpackers, who are not mountain climbers!
