Per a prior review, I would agree that the staff is pretty casual and the sharpness of other hotel systems is not here but my stay was fine. All staff members were helpful. Hotel is a bit worn at the edges but the room was large and comfortable. Breakfast area was well taken care of and with an adequate array of choices including freshly prepared scrambled eggs from an actual kitchen. Good. Some years ago, Doubletree bought out most of the Red Lions. These properties were very deluxe for the most part. Current Red Lions are run of the mill as is this one but in a few locations you can still find a great Red Lion that Doubletree did not take over.

We made a reservation on Hotwire and ended up with the Red Lion. Having never stayed at a Red Lion before I had no basis for comparing it to other Red Lion properties and was not sure what to expect. When I called to confirm my reservation someone answered immediately and was very professional and helpful on the phone. We ended up having a very positive stay.We arrived late but were greeted by friendly staff. There were also fresh cookies in the lobby and my boyfriend loved the $2 energy drinks in the vending machine. They gave us a nice room on the second floor with a nice large balcony and a sliding glass door overlooking the swimming pool. The location of the room was great. The room was clean though the carpet could probably use a steam cleaning, there were a few spots in the room and in the hallway. The furniture etc. was in good condition. There was a free hot breakfast in the morning which was really convenient. Also the hotel was right off the highway which was great since we were just passing through. I left a pair of earrings in the room when we checked out. When I called the hotel the staff was nice enough to retrieve them from our room and hold them at the front desk until we came back through Bakersfield 3 days later. I was impressed.
