Al Castello - Torri del Benaco, Italy     

WE have just returned from a week's holiday there and the hotel was excellent.The small family run hotel had excellent home cooked food and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.The rooms are basic but clean. Torri is a lovely quiet resort.The small shops and restaurants were good value and the area is mainly flat so easy to walk about. It's easy to get the ferries to other towns and villages around the lake and this is a lovely relaxing way to travel. A great place to go to relax and sample home cooked Italian food.

First time on Lake Garda, wasn't sure where to stay in the masses towns and villages. Chose Torri because it seemed one of the less-touristy areas. Having not read much on this hotel, booked with some trepidation. Need not have worried; booked direct with the Hotel, who kept in touch via mail. Staff were tremendous, very efficient and friendly. Check-in was seamless, room had excellent air-conditioning unit (at a previous hotel I had to sleep UNDER the air-conditioning unit to get any comfort). Room was basic, very clean, with a great view of the lake and castle opposite. Small bathroom, but no issues there. The hotel seemed quite small, no bar area that I could see. Torri is a great place to visit, locals are very friendly and accomodating. One thing I noticed was the abundance of Germans who strutted about as if the owned the town; being a fluent German speaker, I understood their conversation, most of it non-complimentary directed at non-Germans. However, do not let it put you off from visiting this charming town, and when you do I would certainly recommend this hotel.
