It's hard to put into words the Aloha spirit that the Royal Lahaina has, from your first greeting of welcome home to we look forward to your return. We decided to give R L a try last year we were a little apprehensive until we saw our room, from the custom made furniture to the beautiful ocean view everything was simply Hawaii. We fell in love with the R L , it is a laid back Hotel not over crowded, the beach is the best ,you can actually relax and enjoy your surroundings. The staff has a excellent Aloha spirt and very accomadating. We had one of the guard shack personell check us in with a big smile and with the greeting of welcome home. Hawaii is our favorite place to vacation this was our 7th trip and have already booked our trip for next year, but it's the hospitality of Hotels like this one that make you want to come back to home year after year. God Bless and Aloha until we meet again

We were in Maui to Get Mauied and our travel agent helped us pick out a hotel. The hotel had undergone major rennovations just prior to our stay, and most of the reviews pre-rennovation were not good so we were nervous about staying at the Royal Lahaina. The hotel ended up being beautiful. We were upgraded to an ocean view room, although it seemed like we would probably be able to see the ocean from any room they could have given us. The room overlooked the luau grounds so we could see and hear the festivities from our balcony. The staff was always friendly. The property has 2 pools, but we never did use them because we were too busy exploring the island. The beach is OK...but a little narrow. I was disappointed that there was no boardwalk to walk along the length of the beach, there was also zero lighting on the beach so it felt unsafe at night. There is great snorkeling to the west of the property-about a 5 minute walk. The breakfast buffet is good, but pretty expensive. The biggest complaint of the whole experience was the parking. You had a pay $10 a day to park and they squeeze as many parking spots as they can into the lot. Bigger people probably wouldn't even be able to get out of the vehicle the spots were so tight. Everyone got door dings. If you came back to the hotel late at night you would have to park a long ways away because of all the luau guests.
Overall this hotel gets a big thumbs up! Don't forget to bring cash for the bellmen that INSIST on bringing your luggage up to your room.
