Domaine de Divonne - Divonne-les-Bains, France 

Used this hotel for a conference location - seems very popular for similar events. Huge bedroom and well equipped bathroom with separate shower and bidet. A maze of conference rooms of all sizes. Agree with earlier comments on lack of language skills of staff - I spoke in English to the breakfast staff and they spoke back to me in French - well they had a good excuse as we were in France! Very mature gardens with some beautiful cedar trees and an outdoor pool. Surprisingly for a hotel of this size no indoor pool or spa complex. Art Deco theme in most of the public rooms. Wouldn't choose to stay at this hotel privately - I'd be surrounded by too many conference delegates!

It seems that the majority of the people staying here are for business meetings or conferences of one kind or another, at least they were on both occassions I stayed. Mind you if you are going to have a meeting somewhere it may as well be in a location like this, a short ride from Mont Blanc and the French Alps. The rooms are spacious and with classic furniture make a pleasant change from the decor of generic international chain hotels. The food was good, a huge selection of choices in the buffet selection for lunch and the room service soup and salad I had were huge portions. The hotel also has an outdoor pool (although January is not the time to use it) a spa room and a small gym. The village has a couple of restaurants, a great little supermarket and a couple of bars (including Chaplins) for those who want to escape the hotel
