Mosquito Blue - Playa del Carmen, Mexico 

Further to our saty at the Mosquito Beach, we also spent 5 days at Mosquito Blue. The hotel's location is great but close to a large club which creats a flow of noise on weekends. The junior suite we got was mediocre at best (!!!) , run down and not worth its cost (US$300+) - small TV, A/C did not work well (either freezing or hot) and to top it all the toilet clogged and the room flooded (managment "explained" to us that we should have known not to use toilet paper - although nothing was mentioned to us when checking in and there was no sign...obviously we were not compensated in any way). We transfered to a delux suite which at least had a balcony (smaller room but much better value for your money + balcony). Unfortunately we found out that also this room was run down with molde spots, bad A/C etc. Grounds are indeed beautiful, pools are cool but very small, few lounge chairs and there is not resturan on site. Location around the corner from a lot of restaurants and stores on the 5thAvenue. All in all, the hotel surroundings are great but rooms are run down and no longer worth the price. As in the Mosquito beach hotel, Mosquito blue also use an outrageous echange rate of 11.5 Pesos : 1US$ about 10%-15% higher then the reguler rate around town.
