Martinique Copa Hotel - Rio De Janeiro, Brazil     

Whatever you do don't book with Gtahotels.com/Turico Holidays. We paid in advance and were told that there would be no charges at the hotel. When we arrived, the hotel informed us that they were regularly not paid by the vendor and would require a credit card to secure the room and charge us a higher rate then we booked online. After hours phone calls over the six days we were in Rio, the hotel finally received payment and we were ultimately not charged, but this was far from a pleasurable experience. The location of the hotel is good, just a block from Copacabana beach and a 10/15 min walk from Ipanema. The rooms are small as described and the pool is more like a very large bath tub. The staff is warm, friendly and speak excellent English. The breakfast was fine, but nothing special. For great crepes and an easy and affordable lunch walk a few blocks to BiBi Sucos. There are many great restaurants, but Avoid the restaurants along Av. Atlantica, they are generally overpriced and the food is not great.
