This hotel really needs a renovation, but until this happens it is also one of the best deals you could find in Copacabana! We have stayed twice in one of their ocean-front suites. They are, admittedly, a bit run-down, but the beds are ok and everything is clean. And the view! Where else do you get the full-frontal unobstructed total sea view at the mid-point of Copacabana at 100 USD?? We moved a couple of chairs out to the balcony and just sat there to take in the view, pleasantly in the shade for most of the day except early morning. Also, the location is not so bad if you wish to explore other parts of the city as it is only 7 min walk to the metro station Arcoverde, and also a taxistand just outside. It is actually next door to two other fine properties, the Rio Internacional and the Copacabana Palace, but at a fraction of the price. In the evening we went to rua Farme in Ipanema in 5 minutes by taxi for dining and bar-hopping. Only great drawback is that there is no pool. Final remark: don't even consider staying here if you don't get the ocean view, the back rooms have no redeeming qualities!
