Hotel Punta Negra - Alghero, Italy 

I was looking for a place to pop THE QUESTION. So I was looking for a place that is right on the water, has nice but not opulent d?cor and good service. All my expectations were exceeded. The room had the best balcony and view (pay a bit more to get the ocean views the ‘garden’ view is not very exciting), the staff were lovely and super helpful. Since we were not interested in partying, the location just 10 min from town was perfect. The hotel beach has been maligned by some of the reviews. There is a sandy beach with lovely clean water, but if you are looking for a vast expanse of beach go to Australia. If you are looking for a beautiful, friendly, clean, relaxing hotel and are happy to get a car, scooter or bike to explore further then this is a place for you. If you want to party seek else where.

This is probably one of the finest hotels in Sardinia! We got married in Alghero on June 21st 2008 and stayed in and had our wedding reception in this hotel. The hotel is always clean, the service and friendliness from the staff is second to none, food is superb, fabulous rooms, beautiful pools and beach and the atmosphere tranquil and homely. All of the staff cannot do enough for you. The manager Francesco went over and beyond his job to help us with the wedding arrangements, buses, flowers etc. The day was absolutely perfect. The reception was around one of their illuminated pools and overlooking the med to Alghero. 14 Courses of fantastic food and lovely local wine for a fraction of the cost of a wedding reception in Ireland! And the weather, well incredible. I have stayed in 7 star hotels in Asia and all in all this hotel was finer than any of them. We will most definitely be returning here at least once a year. Everything about Punta Negra is perfect and the minute you enter the grounds of this hotel you will understand what I mean. This is the place to go to really get away from it all and its no more than 2 hours from most parts of Europe!
