Sheraton Sand Key Resort - Clearwater Beach, USA 

I had been recently looking for a place to stay to getaway from the daily hassles and stresses. I decided to take my wife for a one night mini escape to Clearwater Beach. I searched for some hotels via the net and read some reviews and I came accross the Sheraton Sand Key. The photos and reviews all appeared to be what I was looking for so I decided to book the stay. First off, I loved the fact that this hotel was not on the main strip of Clearwater Beach. It was a more secluded area with less volume and wildness that goes down on the other side of the bridge. Upon arrival, it was easy to see the outside of the hotel was very well-maintained and the grounds were immaculate. The check-in staff was extremely friendly and helpfull in pointing out some of the specifics about the property. We arrived at 10:30a.m and were able check in to our room right away. The interior of the hotel was very well-appointed and clean. I also noticed that several staff-memebers were always around for any questions or concerns. We stayed on the fifth floor with a harbour view and a king bed. The room was excellent and very comfortable. We had a small balcony over-looking the intercoastal waterway which provided an excellent night-time view of the downtown Clearwater. The king-sized bed was quite a plus and very comfortable. As other reviewers had noted the bathroom was small, but I found it as normal for a hotel room and did not bother me one bit. I loved the flat-screen HDTV (I am a sucker for electronics). The only small tid-bit that surprised me was that there was no mini-fridge in the room. For me, I only stayed one night so I didn't mind but for a longer stay it might have been a little more of a nusance. Per many of the reviews, yes, the pool area was pretty small for the size of the resort. It filled up quite easily and it was difficult to find space to just relax and cool off from the sun. However, this didn't matter much because a short walk (and yes I did find it to be a short walk) to the beach was perfect. Why go to the pool when you can lay out on the beach. I guess it is just a matter of preference. Overall, I was looking for some time to relax and I got just that. I didn't find the hotel to be noisy and I found that this hotel is incredibly clean and comfortable. For a short-weekend getaway in hectic Clearwater beach, this hotel was a home run.
