Rooms are a good size with one of the best showers I've experienced from a hotel - but if have room facing the road be prepared for noisy traffic (hooting & tooting all night). Free internet access (30 minutes a day) useful as mobile phone did not work in Ecuador. Hotel offers shuttle to/from airport in its promotional material, but we only managed to secure this once in 4 journeys. Otherwise told shuttle "not available" or "depends on who else wants it". But taxi to airport only $4 so no great loss.

May 20, 2008 galapagoer My husband and I stayed three nights at the Grand Hotel Quayaquil, two before our trip to the Galapagos and one night upon return. The hotel was priced reasonably and is extremely well located close to the center of the city, the iguana park and Cathedral, and about 4 blocks from the lovely walk along the Malecon. The room was large, quiet, immaculate, air conditioned, and well furnished. We we met a complimentary shuttle at the airport and taken to the airport for each of our flights. We asked for upstairs rooms facing the cathedral and our preference was waiting for us although we arrived late in the evening. The king size bed was very comfortable. The breakfast which was included was extensive to suit any breakfast preference. We also ate dinner there one evening and were very pleased with the meal. I do not think it would be possible to find any better accommodations for this price and location in Quayaquil. For a treat, get a chocolate milkshake at the Conoa Restaurant across the park next to the Intercontinental Hotel. It is exceptional!
