Sheraton Guayaquil Hotel - Guayaquil, Ecuador     

I went to Guayaquil for business purposes. My office made the reservations and I just went without a very high expectation. The hotel really amazed me because of its superb service. It all started when the shuttle driver was waiting for me right after customs. Check in was expedite and the guy at the front desk was polite and friendly at the same time. The room was very nice, with a huge TV screen and a large number of cable channels. The food was just perfect in all meals I took there (the Ecuadorian specialties are terrific!). During the evenings, there was live music, which created a nice environment to mingle with people. The whole staff is trained to be flexible with their customers' needs. For example, the information book at the room said that they want guests to be absolutely confortable and they really work hard for that to be true. The book also says that they don't want travelers to feel pressured to leave on their departure date, and if they need to leave after noon, just let them know. I did this and they were fully supportive. The hotel is nicely located, with a large mall across the street, which adds value to the experience. There are plenty of cabs to go to other parts of town. I typically find a couple of flaws in all hotels where I stay. This one deserves an "excellent" in my rating.

We stayed here for one of two extra nights after a plane crash in Quito created havoc and our flight was cancelled for two days in a row in Guayaquil. Our room had recently been remodeled, and the bed was fabulously comfortable. Un fortunately, our room faced the Disco/casino, and we felt like we were in the disco in our room. I asked if we could move to a room on the other side of the hotel but all of the rooms were booked. I think this is a common compliant because there were complimentary ear plugs on the bed side table. We had a great complimentary buffet breakfast in the morning. They also had a great area with complimentary Internet access. The hotel was right across the street form the mall which came in handy while we were killing time waiting for our afternoon flight. When this flight was cancelled, we spent the next at the Marriot which I have also written a review on.
