Tre Amis - Limone Piemonte, Italy     

The Tre Amis is an odd package of good and bad. First the good. It's in the best position in Limone for skiing, with genuine ski-in/ski-out straight onto the piste of Limone 1400 and with a short (200 metre) run to the central point for chair lifts that easily connect you to all of the skiing in this quite extensive resort. It has a great terrace to sit and relax on before and after hitting the slopes, it has easy access by road with extensive parking, and it's very cheap - we paid 44 Euros a night per person for half board including unlimited, quite drinkable wine and sparkling water with your evening meal. Now the bad news. The bedrooms and en-suite shower rooms are very small and furnished with the basics only, the heating (certainly during our stay) was limited and the room and shower were often too cold, the bar staff are hopelessly bad, the food was filling but not much else and, if you want to eat out you have to drive to Limone village (15 Euros each way by taxi or c.10 minutes by car). So... for the price you really can't complain and its position for skiing is quite superb, but if you're looking for something more then you may be disappointed.
