Location

Located in Gruz harbor, we are in the most accessible and easily connected area in Dubrovnik.

During spring and summer spend your days lazing on a beach, or on the deck of a luxurious boat, dipping in the clear waters to cool off. The more adventurous amongst you can go diving off the surrounding coast and islands.

During the cooler months, apart from allowing you to visit the Old Town and galleries without the summer crowds, special Christmas and New Year celebrations and the Feast of St.Blaise (Patron saint of Dubrovnik) show a different side of Dubrovnik. While sailing and fishing excursions offer those lovers of the sea the chance to relax or test their fishing skills.

To escape the city beaches, explore the surrounding islands of Lokrum, Lopud, Šipan and Kalamota. Local ferry services for the islands leave every hour from Gruz harbour (a 5 minute walk from hotel).

Special excursions can be organised on request, including visits to the beautiful town of Cavtat only a few kilometres south of Dubrovnik, visiting the holy city of Medugorje or visits to the Peljesac peninsula or Split.

Dave and Sandy Roberts stayed here for 10 nights between end of June and 9th July booking the hotel after having read the reviews. We were not disappointed at all. The family run hotel is so friendly, starting at breakfast time with a hearty feast that sets you up for for the rest of the day. Nothing is too much trouble for the entire family who take turns to look after you and there is always a smile to be had. The rooms are very spacious.spotlessly clean and the aircon was a boon as the temperature was way up the scale. We had a sea view which is advisable and opening up the patio doors late afternoon extended the balcony into our room.As a base to visit the old town or any of the magical small islands nearby this is great and you will not be disappointed. We would definitely go back and stay here. One thing we would have liked would have been an outside seating area off the bar to maybe meet some of the other guests There was room but as yet they have not developed this area [That is being very picky though]

We stayed at the Berkeley for 6 nights at the end of June 2008. It was a wonderful experience. The hotel has a terrific location - supermarket close at hand (we had a one bedroom apt with kitchen), right at the ferry terminal, near the bus terminal, away from the crowds of downtown. It's only a 10 minute bus ride from the old town and the bus stop is less than 5 minutes away on foot. Breakfasts were great. You can only get dinner in large groups but if hotel fare is what you want, the Hotel Petka just down the street serves quite acceptable food and has an ok bar. The room was very clean and well appointed. Maids appeared daily. The best feature, however, was the hospitality. The family that operates the hotel is absolutely committed to making sure you have a pleasant stay. They are incredibly helpful. We had a small medical emergency on a stat holiday and Katarina and her dad were quick to volunteer their help. I can't say enough about great they all were, from the serving staff (also family) to desk staff (also family).
