We were concerned as we had pre booked a trip to Scotland with our 2 guests from America. It was their first trip to Scotland. The earlier reviews were concerning but we found the opposite. We had 2 lovely rooms overlooking the Loch and we were made most welcome by all the Staff. We stayed 4 nights. Susan at Reception was a real help with nothing too much trouble and we were allowed use of the internet and taxis were organised for us. Breakfast at ?6.50 per person was excellent value-you could have what you liked. All the people we met there were enjoying their stay. The hotel has gone a long way to sort out its previous problems and there has been a lot of redecoration. It was excellent value for money and to satisfy our American friends was a compliment in itself.

We had booked and paid for our stay in May in early January and asked for a twin bedded room with loch views which was agreed. We arrived at the hotel mid-afternoon to find the room we were allocated was a double bedded room which did just allow you to see the loch. We went back to reception and explained our difficulties and were offered a family room which looked out at a bank at the back of the hotel with views of dustbins and gas cylinders. We declined the offer and went back to our original room. If we had arrived earlier in the day we could have had a twin bedded room with loch view. We were less than happy but felt we had no real other choice. We were pleased to find that breakfast had been upgraded from continental breakfast to a full cooked breakfast but were less happy to find that it took over an hour to get the order delivered to the table, but the food was good when we got it. It seemed that some staff training or upgrade of kitchen facilities was required. We do not expect to return to this hotel
