We have just got back from a weeks stay at the sonesta which was very nice apart from one incident which ill talk about later.
Hotel’s first impressions were impressive, in the lobby there is a dazzling chandelier, room was okay carpet was a bit worn TV only worked on a few channels which were fuzzy a bit fussy but then this is meant to be a 5*.other then that the room was comfortable and pretty clean.
The pool area was nice and the swim up bar was very handy, sun beds were very comfy and the staff around the pool couldn’t do enough to help u i.e. move umbrellas get drinks/food.
The restaurant was very good and was a lot to choose, one day we eat early and come back just before it closed to grab a snack when I asked if it was okay to come back in and would we be charged the waiter just said its fine come on in, after we got our food we got a bill for a full meal.. properly our fault for being na?ve.
As you could see from the other reviews people are saying there was building work going on which there was, but we found it to be quite a nuisance there was noise in the day and cement falling from one of the new 6th 7th or 8th floor.
To the incident I was talking about at the start, me my girlfriend and about 15 other people were in the pool area when all off a sudden a cement block fell from one of the new floors into the pool which wasn’t good at all, even worst the pool staff were laughing about it and the manager didn’t have any thing to say… very bad. A few days later a man got hit by a small falling stone on his back, nothing seemed to get done about this.
the hotel will be excellent when finished, but the falling debris was quite a put off.
