Sunbreeze Hotel - San Pedro, Belize 

We stayed for a week at this hotel and it has location, location, location, on one of the most beatiful beaches we have ever seen, overlooking a barrier reef. It is well managed and the one incident, with rowdy neighbours, was dealt with immediately and to our satisfaction. The dining is excellent. The staff are very helpful and curtious. The rooms are clean and well appointed. All drinking water on Ambergris Caye is in plastic bottles. Recycling is non-existent and this applies to all facilities we visited on the Caye. We would recomend caution when leaving the beach strip and going into town. Golf carts are the main means of transportation, on very narrow streets, and pedestrians are advised to proceed with caution. Getting to and from Ambergris Caye was an unpleasant experience. Belize City airport is poorly run. We complained to American Airlines about the check in staff and were told that they were not employeees of American Airlines but were assigned by the airport and there was no recourse. We would recommend seeing Ambergris Caye once, but we will not be going a second time solely because of the hassel of getting there. If you do go, we would highly recommend staying at the SunBreeze Hotel.

Be advised, if you smoke this hotel will not be a nice place to stay, as they threaten to fine you 50 US if they smell tobacco, which is a bit strange as the hotels owners ?the Roe group? also own the ?caribbean tobacco company?
