We hired a car from Cape town and one of our stops was 2 nights at the Spier Hotel Village. We loved it great accomadation even had a fire in the bedroom area of our garden room which also led out to a private pool shared by just a few other rooms. We had the pool all to ourselves no one else used it. The rooms are set out like a village of town houses with small pools to share. There is also a main pool area near the main part of the hotel. The first night we ate at the Moyo Experience - all you can eat African buffet with entertainment thrown in (book ahead through the hotel) - a great night and a must for anyone staying at the hotel. The second night we ate in the hotel again a great meal. Its a great place for families, there were a lot of families but don't be put off if you a just a couple as we are as it was still amazing. Great bar areas to relax in for a drink. The other attractions are a bird sanctury and Cheeter encounter, horse riding, wine tasting and a large lake to have a picnic round. I stayed in Village of Spier a few years ago as part of a Garden Route trip. Was impressed with the initial drive in. Stayed 2 nights and would have liked to have stayed more. Accommodation was great and really upped my expectations for the rest of the holiday. Staff were friendly and there was plenty to do. Would definitely recommend it and would go back.
