Damanse - Ricadi, Italy 

Io e la mia famiglia abbiamo soggiornato per molti anni in questo hotel e dobbiamo dire che ci siamo trovati molto bene. I proprietari sono molto disponibili per accogliere ogni nostra esigenza,soprattutto per chi ha bimbi piccoli. L'ambiente è molto carino,immerso nel verde,nella tranquillità della campagna. Le camere e la sala da pranzo sono sempre pulite. Anche il mangiare è molto buono,tipico calabrese e non. Insomma noi siamo stati entusiasti di questa vacanza e ci ritorneremmo volentieri. Swazz

We stayed at Hotel Damanse for a week and found it almost faultless. The grounds, pool and rooms were spotlessly clean at all times. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The excellent beach is a 5 minute walk down a hill. As other reviewers have said, I would recommend hiring a car for at least some of your stay. There are no shops within reasonable walking distance - the nearest are in San Domenica which was about a half hour walk, and that's on a road with no pavements, so not very safe. Tropea is a 5-10 minute drive away and is a lovely little town with lots of the usual tourist shops and another good beach. We found the staff at Damanse to be very helpful, especially the manager Vincenzo - anything you need arranging ie a hire car being dropped off, he won't hesitate to do for you. His wife was also very nice, and always tried to understand our very poor attempts at speaking Italian so she could help us. Do not go to this area without a phrasebook, you will struggle! Hardly anyone speaks any English. We personally found it quite refreshing to stay somewhere that actually felt like a foreign country as opposed to a tacky beach front where you can order a fry up in English and never learn a word of the native language. There were not many English tourists here at all, a few Germans and lots of Italians from further north. Apparently it gets very busy in July and August, September was great for us though, nice and quiet and still very hot every day.
