we reserved a room at this hotel (not a particularly cheap one) and once we booked flights - they said they had no room available. They were unhelpful, rude and lied.

We stayed at the Post for 10 nights in August 2006 and had a very enjoyable stay. The room was very good, the staff friendly and the food was excellent. The gardens, pool, sauna etc were all very well presented and mostly empty. On the odd rainy day we had, we made full use of their DVD library and sky movie channels. If you like walking and hiking then make sure you walk with their resident guide called Lewis. He is fantastic and took us to places we would probably not have found. Also, take advantage of the free pick nick items available at reception every morning. Also, get the hotel to book you your free Active card. This will allow you to travel on all chairs, cable cars and buses for free during your stay in Lech/Oberlech and also covers some fo St Christoph and all of Zurs. I would also recommend taking a B&B option. There are some fabulous typically Austrian eateries in Lech which serve wholesome local dishes at very good prices. Try Haus Nummer 8 or the restaurant at the Gotthard hotel. My only criticism about the Post is that evening dining is expensive (on average 200 Euro for two people inc. wine) and the glasses of wine are very small. We also ate at the Alberg which was not so good and as for the famous Burg Vital, don't waste your money. It was positively the worst meal we have ever had and at 250 Euro the biggest rip off to date. The Post was definitely the best hotel we visited during our stay and is just about affordable in the summer. In the winter the price for this place goes through the roof and would certainly put us off staying. It's a great hotel but it's not worth 5,000 - 10,000 Euros for a two week stay!! Lech was sublime in the summer and l would recommend it to anyone. The mountain huts are dotted around the high meadows and there is so much beautiful walking and hiking to be had. We could have stayed from months. If you want any more info then please contact me at johng@cutcost.com.
