I stayed at the Park Hotel for one night whilst up in the area on business. Big mistake. The (cold, damp) room was very shabby: peeling wallpaper, a saggy mattress that had seen better days, and a pretty tired and dismal looking bathroom, too. The staff were friendly enough, helpful with local information. However, the thing which let down the Park in a BIG way was the cooked breakfast: utterly dreadful. Sausages and peely-wally rashers of bacon grossly undercooked, and swimming in pools of fat on the plate. Plus terrible toast: old dry, wafer thin bread (possibly reheated from the previous day?) It was so awful that I simply pushed the plate away and opted instead for the small box of cereal instead. This is one of very few instances where I have made a point of writing to the manager afterwards to complain. No reply was forthcoming. Not to be recommended. A shame really, as the far NE is a lovely undiscovered spot, but tourists and other guests really do deserve far better than this. I won’t be returning.
