Hotel An Der Wien - Vienna, Austria     

Staff - Friendly and at least attempted to be helpful. The main woman who managed the property while I was there was very good, very helpful. There were probably about 10 other interim day and night desk staff. All friendly but some obviously not from the immediate area and some were not helpful at all. Rooms - Very clean and comfortable. I found the beds a shy bit too small in length (I'm 6'0"). And even though the hotel was almost directly across the street from Huttledorf (large transit station) - rooms, hotel and neighbourhood were quiet. Cost - I got soaked for EuroCup. Unbelievably expensive - such is Europe for these events and it was my choice. I paid $59e a night post Cup. Totally reasonable. Breakfast - Good with a variety of cold options. Brekkie staff was great. I did notice the selection minimized after the final EC weekend. Still a great value included with the room. T.V. - small flat screens and they worked, but most stations in German. Wireless Internet - Fast...when it worked. I had a lot of problems with their wireless, no jacks in the rooms. They have an odd (to North American standards) unique password and login scheme. Very cumbersome for large numbers of users. If the system locks you out they have to reset the router/server. Kicking everyone off and reseting passwords...just for one user. Why not WEP-64 with a single password for everyone? It's just internet access for a hotel not a bank or office building network. Laundry, Vending Machines, Internet Terminal in Lobby - None. Overall the room, more or less, met my expectations. The internet thing, the cost for the EC weekend and location were major drawbacks. I would not stay here again just because of the location. You're way out in the West end of Vienna. Nothing much out there. The transit ride to/from downtown adds an unnecessary 40-60min to each day and it's a long-long-long stumble home from the pubs downtown. Hope this helped....

Hotel très bien tenu. Bien qu'éloigné du centre il est facile d'accès car très proche d'une station de métro (Utterdorf- la dernière de la ligne 4). Bien insonorisé et très calme, malgré la proximité immédiate des voies ferrées. Très bon et copieux petit déjeuner.
