Central Hotel - Mannheim, Germany 

The hotel is located in a very central place, where you can easily walk into the city centre, or get on a tram that passes by just outside. The hotel is situated on a very noisy four-lane-road where trams and cars were really a noisy contribution to our stay. We had two double-rooms, and they were nicely furnished, and the beds were good. Bathrooms were modern and nice. Both our rooms faced the traffic, and it was very difficult to sleep as the trams pass the window almost all the night. The next morning, two of us asked for another room, and we were provided with at room on the other side. This room was also a nice and spacy room, with all the necessary facilities, and facing the other way made it more livable. The teenagers managed the noise better, but being in July, we would want the windows open at night. It was impossible on the noisy side of the hotel - where most of the double-rooms are situated. The staff was friendly, and the cleaning good. Breakfast was included, and it was good. All in all, I would have given this hotel a "three", but due to the terrible traffic, I ended up giving it a "two". So, if you don't get bothered by traffic-noise (which really is heavy), this is a good and central hotel in Mannheim. If you like sleeping with your window open, find another place to stay. It is not the manager's fault, but the traffic really was a draw-back - too bad because the hotel would have been a good alternative for my Mannheim-stays if not.
