I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a motorcycle touring package holiday. As others have said, the hotel staff are generally very helpful. Especially those manning reception who are very knowlegeable about the area. I'm not sure why others say that the rooms only have single beds. I asked for a single room and had a double bed to myself. However, for such a grand hotel my room was a little disappointing. It was furnished very cheaply and was very cramped. The bathroom was tiny, with a shower cubicle that had black mould growing in the sliding door panels. They food was okay. Nothing special and the service was very slow. The breakfast buffet was good. There was little emphasis on local cuisine. I liked Meiringen as a touring base. If I visit again then I might try another hotel. Somewhere that offered a taste of the local cuisine perhaps.

This is a nice hotel. The staff are friendly and helpfull. Given that we stayed as part of a coach tour and therefore had not paid full rate the service was good and the food was above average. The Front Conservantry/bar area is very plesant place to watch the world go by. Disabled access to the upper floors is via a very small lift, Personally I used the stairs! I personally would have prefered a double bed but only singles are on offer. Watch out for the price of the wine. It proved to be cheeper to purchase two 50CL screw top bottles @ 20 CHF each than a 75 75CL bottle with a cork which was ?43 CHF !! The only other down points which were not the fault of the hotel were the constant noise of the waterfall (which only affected one side of the hotel) and the local farmer moving his cattle at 5:30 am. The sound of the cow bells was deffening. Overall a very good Hotel
