Radon Plaza - Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina 

Lovely staff and very clean. But I did get sick from the chicken in the hotel restuarant. The hotel did say you can control the airconditioning in your room (boasted as a key feature by the Borat-esque hotel TV channel) but you cant and our room was always uncomfortably warm, even though it was mild outside. Air con was centrally controlled and you had to keep on ringing reception, who would lower it by 1 or 2C, then leave it to creep back up in an hours time. Made so much noise that we insited on changing rooms on our second night. New room not much better. Has a lovely health spa BUT the lovely girl who works down there smokes fags by the indoor pool (people smoke everywhere in Bosnia) with other hotel staff and plays her Britney Spears CD all the time, loudly - hardly appropriate for relaxing to after a sauna. And smoking hardly good for a "health and spa" facility! They had a big wedding on Saturday night and as most of the guests stayed over, they did not have enough food for breakfast - ran out of bread, eggs, cold meats, fruit by 9.00 even though breakfast finished at 10 on Sunday.The staff were lovely though - do hope they sort out these glitches! Shame - marred an otherwise excellent trip to Sarajevo. Feel mean about moaning about services in this city after all that these people have been through - but if you are paying luxury rates, you kind of expect luxury. Pink chicken, sweaty rooms and cigarette smoke in a the sauna aint luxury! So stay there by all means, but lower your expectations. Colleagues stayed at other hotels - ours did sound like the best out of a fairly mediocre bunch!
