We stayed at the Marshall House for two night in July. We really enjoyed our stay in Savannah, and I really liked this hotel. The room was nicely renovated, and I liked how they had the original heart of pine floors exposed in the rooms. The bed was one of the best we've ever slept on for a hotel. The hotel was in a great location and we were in walking distance of everything we wanted to see.
Downsides: Front desk pushed valet parking (12 bucks) on us when parking was free in the garage next door on the weekends. It saved us $24 bucks parking in there. Our room was streetside, and it was a bit noisy at night. Also, you can room service and doors slamming from within your room.

The hotel has wonderful ambiance and is close to both the river and Citywalk but....for the price (>$200/night) there may be better options.
The hotel is all wood which is great from a stylistic standpoint but creates an echo chamber- especially when the people who occupied much of our floor (a wedding party) came in drunk at 2 a.m. talking loudly and banging their doors both nights. The windows are also single pane glass so the sounds of the city (police sirens, cars starting, etc) echo in your room too. The beds are fairly soft- not at all like those found at Hyatt or even Hampton Inns- and while the claw foot tub was great for a candle lit bath, you do not want to take a shower in it if you are claustrophobic. The flat screen TV was a nice touch, but channel choices fairly limited. The bottled water was free though so...all was not lost.
The guest staff was incredibly nice though and included breakfast decent although far from spectacular (equal to a Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express). Parking costs $12 per day but if staying over a weekend the parking garage around the corner is free on Saturday and Sunday (and only $8 per day weekdays as well). That is where you car is parked anyway so....save the bucks and walk the minute it took.
We paid extra for a veranda room which was nice to sit on in the provided rockers on a stormy Friday night (great lightening shows compliments of God) but didn't offer much of a view at all of the city at all (you stare at the awnings of 3 restaurants and a finance company). You also have to literally climb out the window to get to it- a step stool might have been a nice addition since it was a 2' high step.
Bottom line, it's a nice place to stay if you want to re-live Savannah in the 1900's, have a fairly romantic ambiance and be close in to the city, but you definitely might want to request an interior room unless you are a heavy sleeper.
