I reserved a room at this hotel in August 2007, but on arrival in June 2008 they did not have a room available!
We were sent to a hotel in the next street, The Georgetown Suites who then sent us to their "sister" hotel in another street.
When I was eventually shown a room, after taking our luggage out of our car 3 times, it had just one bed. Our party consisted of 3 adults and a child!!
We were then sent back to the Georgetown Suites and given a bigger room, but also just one bed. There was also the most uncomfortable sofa bed which I have ever sat or slept on. I had reserved a "double double" room at the Monticello. This whole process took over 3 hours and by 11pm we were absolutely exhausted and had to take the room.
The following morning, we had to go back to the Monticello who also tried to give us a room with just one bed!
When we refused, they tried to offer us a bed plus a sofa bed, but I held out for the "double double" as reserved and finally got it. This totally ruined our visit to Washington DC, as we only had 2 days, half of which were wasted sorting out the room. We were also too tired to appreciate and enjoy our tours.
I can understand the good reviews given by some guests if they had no trouble with their reservation as the room was clean and comfortable and the decor throughout the hotel was very nice. Also, it is very nicely located in the heart of Georgetown.
But BEWARE, I understand that the way we were treated is a regular occurrence and it really is not worth the risk!

The hotel staff was incredible. When I arrived at the hotel from out-of-state, a member of the hotel staff attempted to park my SUV in the hotel garage. Due to the height of the car, it would not fit into the garage. However, in the course of their attempting to get the SUV in the garage, the sun roof was accidentally cracked. The hotel's general manager immediately apologized, filed out an incident report and assured me that the hotel would pay for the expense of replacing the sun roof. He asked that I simply obtain an estimate from my car dealer, which is located in another state. I obtained the estimate, and faxed it to the hotel's general manager. Wtihin 4 buseinss days, the hotel's insurance company called me and said they would be sending me a check for the full amount of the sun roof replacement. The hotel accepted responsibility wihtout hesitation and made the process very easy and convenient for me. In this day and age, the hotel's handling of the situation was very refreshing.
By the way, the hotel itself is lovely. It is located in the heart of Georgetown, within steps of great shopping, bars, and restaurants.
