We booked a decent-sized room with a kitchenette. Beds were comfortable, large windows with a view of Scott Circle, flat panel tv, 12-cup coffeemaker, fridge/freezer and stove, cookware and utensils provided. Forgot my toothbrush and they quickly provided a replacement. Valet service was very friendly and fast. Location is amazing, only a very short walk from the White House or Dupont Circle. Only complaint would be the cramped bathroom and low water pressure in the shower, but there were far more positives. Would recommend!

I was in DC for a three-night conference at the Marriott in Woodley Park and wanted to save some money on rooms. So, I stayed at the Beacon for about $50 less per night (check their hotel website for deals before you book through another site). It was a great place; the bed and pillows were very comfortable, I had a decent view, and the bathroom, though small, was tastefully furnished (wicker basket under the sink for dirty towels, for example). The room had a lot of character to it, which I prefer to a large chain hotel. As a single female traveler, I also appreciated the security features; in order to get off the elevator at any floor other than the lobby, you had to swipe your room card. I used the business center quite a bit; it was spacious with comfortable chairs. I also used the fitness room; small, but three machines each have their own TV monitor, and you can also get a free pass to the YMCA just across the street if you want more equipment (or a pool). I did eat one breakfast at the hotel restaurant, and was pleasantly surprised to find that my coffee and juice (which I thought were extra) were actually included in the meal price. However, there are plenty of places in nearby Dupont Circle to eat, probably for cheaper. In terms of location, Dupont Circle is only a few blocks away, and this hotel was by far the cheapest I could find with so many amenities in such a great location. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who doesn't need a pool. I definitely saw many different people, from families with small children to elderly couples to international tourists staying there, so there is something for almost everyone.
