Bed was TINY... It was a full or double bed, I didn't think hotels still had those! It was definitely a no frills hotel despite how much you spend per night. The location however, was key. You could walk to all the major monuments and sites to see. There was a lovely bar on the rooftop which was also nice since we didn't have to actually go anywhere or look for a place after a long day of walking! I was in my room to sleep and shower and didn't have a problem with either.

My boyfriend and I decided to stop off in washington on our way home from south america for some sight seeing! We decided on the hotel washington because of its location, boy were we sorry. We arrived at about 1.30am exhausted after many flights, first impressions of the hotel werent too bad. The lobby is a bit dated but ok. However after we checked in and got our key we lugged our luggage into the lift and down about three corridors to our room, only to find the key wouldnt work, my boyfriend went nback to reception and back up to finds the key didnt work and not only that but with all the noise we were making the door opened from the inside!! We were trying to get into another couples room. We lugged all our stuff back down to reception to complain, he didnt seem too put out at all!! We were given another room and assured it was 'lovely' much nicer room anyway, it was AWFUL. The carpet was filthy, couldnt walk in bare feet and the room was stiffling hot with no air-con. The bed was small and my pillow stank of B.O. I almost cried. We were up and out as early as we could the next morning to begin our sight seeing. Also we requested checking out an hour later as a tour we wanted to go on meant not getting back to the hotel until 12.30. We were told this was no problem for an extra $100. So we missed the tour :(. All in all an awful hotel. Dont book, if you have try change.

Great Experiance!

My mother and I stayed at this hotel. We happen to get a great price on it too! (I booked it via calling the hotel, made reservations a couple of months prior...Occasionally I would call to verify the reservation..{I have this notion that I have to confirm things :) } anyhow, everytime I called to check on it, they told the price went down so I'd lock it in at that new lower rate! By the time we went ...it went from like $150 to $89)!!!! This place is walking dispatch to the metro, white house, food, shoping, anything your little heart desires! I LOVE this city! Now, you do have to mentally include parking along with your stay (but that's at ANY hotel you stay at in DC- - - once you get parked in the garage..trust me just leave your car there and take the metro!) Clean hotel, good room service, has an 'older' feel to this hotel but it is very nice! Had no problems whatsoever and I can't wait to go back to DC!!! (But honestly in DC, i'd never stay at the same hotel twice...there's so many of them! This is a good one to check out if you get a chance!

Horrible
WORST HOTEL I've ever stayed in!!

We booked this hotel for the great location. But when we got there the hotel wouldn't allow us to park in their garage! They told us that there was an event in town and they basically allowed too many non-guests to park so there wasn't any room for guests who were staying at the hotel! We called the hotel to see about where to park and they ran us in circles! It was literally a 45 minute ordeal just for parking. I asked to speak to the hotel manager but he rudely told us that "parking wasn't guaranteed" and there was nothing he could do about it. When we got to the hotel to check in they did not give us the right room. Not to mention the rooms were horrible. Old, smelly and very small. I've travelled a bit and even stayed in some hostels in Europe. Hotel Washington was by far the worst place I've ever stayed in. I forgot my toothbrush and asked the hotel if they could send one up to the room. For the first time ever - I was told that if I wanted a toothbrush I would have to come downstairs and buy one from the gift shop. I've never stayed somewhere where they would not provide you a toothbrush. To top it off the "acting " hotel manager was EXTREMELY RUDE!! He could have cared less about his customers. We couldn't believe that the hotel actually allowed him to interact with customers. We asked him for the name of the hotel manager and he told us they didn't have one. After debating with him for a few minutes he finally gave us a card for the assistant manager. Not surprising - he told us that the hotel is closing soon. PLEASE save yourself the time and headache and stay at the Willard right next door.
