Our stay was excellent. There is a metro subway station right underneath the hotel. The location is excellent and is a short 5 minute walk to the Smithsonian museums. I would skip the parking which entails a $35 charge or more and just park on the street. It's pretty easy to find parking on weekends and even weekdays there since the only commercial properties nearby are government buildings with their employees. We got a good deal that included breakfast. (bring your printed reservation specifically stating that - they argued with us for 30 minutes that it wasn't included until they finally checked the website) Also, do check your bill when leaving since they put a parking charge on my tab when I had parked for free on the public street. Also, if it is warm enough, the outdoor pool is quite nice.

horrible cancellation process

Do not make reservations via the hotel website. If you decide to cancel, you will have a very hard time. You must deal directly with the hotel to cancel online reservations. The hotel phone number automatically directs you to central reservations. Central reservations tells you to contact the hotel. It is back-n-forth, back-n-forth, back-n-forth. Hopefully you can get them cancelled before the 24 hour period runs out and you are charged for the night.

My family and I stayed at this hotel from Sept 29-Oct 1. I'm sorry for the delay in posting a review. We went for a family getaway to see the sights of the capitol. Location: The hotel is a little confusing to find but I think that may just be the streets of D.C. in general (lots of little streets and residential neighborhoods to drive through). You'll know you're there when you see the big glowing pyramid in front. Parking is expensive when you use valet and if you park on the street you'll deal with meters. However, here's a secret: if you go on a weekend, parking on the street is free! The hotel's location is convenient in that it's close to the capitol building and the Washington monument. Unfortunately, there aren't many places to eat around the hotel. The bottom floor of the hotel has a metro terminal and on the way there there are plenty of little shops and places to eat but they are all closed on the weekend! This hotel seems to serve more for business. Price: I didn't have a problem with the $114/night, but this was also the weekend price. I'm not sure of the price during the week though. The restaurant inside the hotel is a bit expensive ($17 for breakfast buffet). Staff: For the most part everyone was nice, but there were a few exceptions. There was a woman at the bar that was nice to our faces but as we were walking out, we heard her making comments about us and everyone else in the bar. The cleaning ladies are very nice and always offering you more towels or soaps if you pass them in the hallway. The women at the front desk are a bit snooty. Rooms: We had a standard room facing the pool. The rooms were spacious, enough room to throw luggage around without tripping over it. The beds were comfortable with big fluffy pillows and blankets. There is a safe inside the closet and a mini-fridge inside the entertainment center. The TV wasn't spectacular, not many channels to watch, but that wasn't a big deal. There are plenty of mirrors in the room (bathroom, writing desk, and closet doors). The bathroom was beautiful. Not overly small but not too spacious. At the sink there is enough room for two people to stand. The toilet paper is kind of hidden, you can't see it until you actually sit on the toilet! It's underneath the sink. The water pressure on the shower head was adjustable. Everything was kept very clean. I hope this review has helped.
