This was my third time at the Fairmont Washington and it remains a truly wonderful place to stay. I was upgraded to a Capital permier Corner Suite which was quite beautiful--separate sitting and dining area, king bed etc. The hotel is smaller than some of the giant DC conference factories and so has an intimacy and warmth that make me want to return.
The conceirge staff, as always, were most helpful, and the room service staff were exceptional--even remembering from time to time where I liked the meal set up.
This is a great hotel in a truly amazing city.

Check in / front desk
10.0
We stayed in one of the regular rooms, with two "double" (not really that big) beds. The room was average to a bit larger, with a desk, small table, a couple of regular chairs, one arm chair, a clean ironing board and a good quality iron, and one small analog TV set. The room was clean and generally well maintained.
But, there were a variety of small annoyances during our visit that one should not have at a hotel that is this nice and this expensive: the shower head was damaged and only provided a hoselike deluge of water;
one day housekeeping service took the hotel robe we had left on the back of a chair and did not replace it;
the lobby bar was closed one night without notice, explanation, or apology;
the lobby ATM machine was out of order.
But, the person that checked us in, Deborah Arnold, was the smartest, nicest, and most efficient front desk person I have ever met.
We would definitely stay here again, but there are some minor improvements needed to reach perfection.
