What Travellers Like

  • 2 rooms for 7 nights at the Hyatt Regency. We upgraded our stay to Business Plan for $20/night/room so that we could get free calls and breakfast buffet daily. Our rooms were on the 11th floor (1155 and 1157. The rooms had comfortable beds (although not like Westin's Heavenly Bed) and were decorated in a pleasing neutral color. The bathroom was small (one had only a shower) with little space for storing toiletries. Warning for women with longer hair: my hair did hate the shampoo and conditioner so I ended up buying some at CVS to use during my stay. But, as a plus the water pressure was good, unlike so many hotels. However I loved having a real, full-power hair dryer in the room, rather than the weak wall-mounted variety, despite the fact it took up one of the 4 available shelves. From the doorman, the bell staff, the front desk, the restaurant, and housekeeping.. Read review

  • Customer service was great, but we checked in our room smelled terribly of smoke, we complained, they tried to clean it for over an hour, comped us at the bar, still smelled, then they comped our parking. When I told them at checkout they comped our parking for the second day. They are customer services oriented, and it was fine, but if I was paying a higher price I would be unhappy. However, it was an excellent location and everyone was customer service oriented.. Read review

  • I was a bit concerned when I booked the rooms because of some of the reviews. The rate was excellent, just over $100 per night, including a full buffet breakfast. The room was quiet at all hours, well-appointed, and very clean. The location is excellent, just two blocks from Union Station and the Capitol.. Read review

  • Got upgraded to an Exexutive Suite which obviously helped, but everything made the stay perfect. Check-in staff at Reception, the concierge, the valet guys out front, the housekeeping staff - they were all wonderful - always ready to help and never looking for a tip. Rooms were really well appointed and looked worthy of the star class rating the hotel has. People keep refering to the homeless shelter and the fire station nearby, but really, to me - that is being really picky. Parking is expensive, but keep in mind that parking is free on the streets over the weekend, and that is exactly what I did - it's $38 a night at the hotel! I'm not one for eating-in via room service or even in the hotel, so I couldn't really comment on the food, but the first night we got in really late, and got some food in from room service, and it really was quite good - admittedly only soups and pasta, but good nevertheless. All in all it was a great experience, and if you really pushed me for a negative, I'd come up with the pool. The access to the pool/fitness area was free over memorial day weekend, but they always seemed in a hurry to get people out by closing time - almost overanxious. BUT bottom line - great hotel, wonderful rooms, polite staff, and a good deal.. Read review
