5Nowadays it's tough to find a nice hotel with all the amenities in a big city for under $200 a night. Well, the Donatello exceeded all my expectations. The service was prompt, efficient, and friendly. Our room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. The hotel provided all the services of the large chain, upscale hotels including concierge, bellmen, spa services, etc., but provided a free continental breakfast, free wifi, and free use of the fitness center -- most upscale hotels despite high room rates, also charge additional fees for such services. The only downside that I can think of to this place is that it is also a timeshare, so be wary of the "free wine and cheese reception" on Friday afternoons; it's more of a sales pitch to buy the timeshares. But we were not hassled at all. Also the fitness center is a tad anemic; just three cardio machines and one weight machine -- but like I said, it's free, and there are also men's and women's saunas and a co-ed jacuzzi (though that was out of service when I was there). It's just six blocks from a BART station, and in a great shopping neighborhood (Union Square) and close to Chinatown. Overall, a great stay and I'd recommend it to anyone.
