A dangerous neighborhood, rickety elevator, and our "Deluxe Kingsize bed" barely fit into the room - there was only one to get out of bed on one side of the bed! And the "view" was of an the back alley. My wife said she felt like were camping.

the rooms are small, the hotel is old, but it is very charming. So much to do in SF that you will (should) not spend much time in the hotel. The heat did not work and the rooms on the front of the hotel get more street noise. The f train comes right by the hotel with a stop out front. Cant beat that!!!! If you are a stay in the hotel type traveler dont stay here, if you are an explorer and want to feel the city, this a good place

When we arrived at the hotel after travelling for many hours, the receptionist said he had no record of our reservation through venere!! He rang the owner but when that call ended he said the owner had been no help. We didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He then said he'd give us a room and deal with other bookings when they arrived! We were tired so were happy to have a room at all, but it was small, dark and shabby. The light in the bathroom didn't work, there was no shower curtain nor towels. Towels arrived that day, the light was fixed the next day, and a shower curtain appeared the day after that. Unfortunately the room stayed the same. On the plus side, the people on reception seemed pleasant enough, but avoid this hotel if you can.
