0Spent 3 nights at the Adagio, thinking that I might find a gem in the jr suite. The lobby is great, and the room was large-especially for SF and Union Sq. But, the details don't quite add up to a top boutique hotel. The rooms are clean but not spotless. Hoousekeeping was very late everyday-one day arriving past 4pm! Towels were harsh, but plentiful. Decor was nice, but in need of updating. Windows open, but only 3 inches. Room had AC, but via a loud portable unit. . One front desk employee was very very helpful talking about non touristy good dining options. Another front desk employee was frazzled and too busy to help. Yes, they have Ipod docks in the rooms, but no cables to plyug them in. They offer teh NYT in the lobby, but only about 2 copies so get there early!
You get the idea....nice hotel, but not great. The details fall just short enough that when you add it up, you have to really examine if its worth the price. Location is good a few blocks from Union Sq, and the size of the room IS worth something...But is it worth enough?
I would say as a boutique hotel, the Adagio is average. Which to me means when compared to big chains or lesser hotels it more than stacks up. But when compared to other 'higher' end small properties, its leaves something to be desired.
