I have never had such a drawn out check-in! The manager, although friendly, seemed unable to concentrate on our check-in in but rather was very distracted by other guests simply coming and going. Also, we had made two reservations (3 people for 2 nights, 2 people for one night) which he couldn't cope with registering together. This would have been helpful as it turned out there was a problem with the rate quoted for the second booking which wasn't discovered until the morning of the third day, leaving us little option but to pay significantly more than expected! Double check you internet booking hasn't registered you for a restricted special rate!!! This is not obvious to those not from the US. Overall, the hotel was okay, clean enough, but old and no aircon (=hot!), and the street in front is very noisy. Generally in San Fran, I think you pay a lot for not much.

What a disappointment! The pictures on the website are very misleading. The hotel staff got us lost 2 times giving us directions to the hotel. They were extremely slow, not very amicable, and had no sense of urgency when a line was forming for check-ins. The "continental" breakfast was a joke! You get to the counter and they hand you a vending-machine wrapped pastry and old orange juice and one cup of coffee that you had to ask for. the rooms were tiny. the gap between the bed & tv console only allowed room for an anorexic. I will never ever come back and have only poor comments for this crap-hole. And, to top it off, there is NO parking, unless you consider the parking garage that charges $20 overnight parking.

The hotel itself is not bad, only a couple of blocks from union square, and plenty to do within walking distance. my main issue, is probably more to do with the city than the hotel, there seemed to be crack heads all over the city centre, if i ever went back i would stay near the bay, it seemed a bit more lively there.

First time staying at the hotel. The area was a bit scary at first sight, right on the border of the Tenderloin, but if you stayed on the right street, all was good. Only complaint is that there could have been a bigger breakfast and safe deposit boxes in the room.
