Our room flooded with water from the toilet in the middle of the night. We were forced to leave our room at 4:00am in the morning.

What a dump. Mind you, the place was under construction, which I can accept, but when you wake up and you feel like you're in the movie, THE POSIDEIN ADVENTURE something is wrong. Our room flooded. Don't want to get into too many details, but it was from the bathroom. I wish I had stayed in a hotel called the Vagabond across the street.

Cholera, typhoid or worse

Toilet flooded not only the bathroom, but soaked the carpet ruining my clothes and bag. Had to check out at 5:30am. Staff is clueless and just stares at you. He wouldn't even give us quarters to do my laundry. No one assumes responsibility and they lack common customer service skills. Apparently, other rooms were also experienced their toilets flooding their bathrooms. And, as we all know, unsanitary conditions can lead to cholera, typhoid and death

The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. She went out of her way to tell us about getting around in San Francisco and how to del with parking. The room was clean with a decent sized TV. My only complaint was that it was very cold and we could not figure out the thermostat. We wanted to take a bath to warm up, but there was no tub. It was only a shower. Since I am a bath fan, this is the only reason I would not stay here again. It was late when we arrived, and we did not want to look hard for dinner, so we ordered pizza from a brochure in the lobby. It was tasty and easy, with free delivery. The continental breakfast had bagels, orange juice, milk, and cereal. No eggs or anything warm. Still, it was a good way to start your day. Oh, the parking lot is pretty cramped. You have to back in to our parking space. It is free, however, and you are welcome to leave your vehicle there even after checkout to avoid expensive parking structures.

Okay
The best place to stay in San Francisco

I've stayed here every year since 2002 for my annual visit to San Francisco and plan to stay there again this fall. The room I get every year is large, has a refrigerator and microwave, a huge shower, nice furniture and is very well kept. The neighborhood is off the beaten path but numerous bus line stop within a block, and two stop right on the corner. I've always found the staff to be helpful and friendly. They are renovating all the rooms and I'm eager to see how much nicer it will be when it's done (it was nice already!). There's a Trader Joe's one block in one direction and a nice neighborhood deli one block in the other direction. Free parking and computer access in the business center are additional pluses. I'd never stay anywhere else in San Francisco..
