I found it to be clean and small in size however it was nice to open the window to the outside to cool off or fresh air! The room was clean and fit my needs and i walked to chinatown and Fishermans Wharf without any problems! I found the hotel food good but costly and the bar staff friendly i would stay there again its a nice place why pay any more then this for a place to sleep and rest!. Read review

This hotel was magnificent, the friendliness of the staff on reception and the pleasantness of the roommaids, made for an totally enjoyable visit. We had booked a double room on the internet directly with the hotel. This room was enormous, it had all the necessary furniture to please not only the traveller, but the businessman as well. The bed and pillows were really comfortable, and at last an airconditioning system that actually worked.. Read review

Okay
Good Location, Old Out-dated Hotel Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009
Value: 3
We stayed here before my surgery 9/07, myself just for a night. The restuarant is fantastic but the room itself is out-dated and desperately needs a "makeover!"
If it wasn't owned by the hospital and recommended by it, I wouldn't stay here.
Though the hotel is well located we ended up having problems with bug bites. Even after the sheets were changed, the problem persisted. The bed was probably infested. I would not recommend this hotel. It is not worth serious itching for days on end for lower price.
We enjoy our stayed .we don't need rent a car , food/etnic food thai, vietnam, indonesian, indian, chinese and Halal food around the corner, atraction, public transit 24/7 safety,
best budget option in SF. I lived in the area for 6 years, and stayed here when I came back to visit friends. Safe area, pretty much on top of mass transit, clean rooms, cable works. What more could you possibly want at this price? I have paid more for pretty dingy places in Palo Alto and Mountain View. Yes, the rooms are dated and boring, the wallpaper peeling in places and dents and dings on the furniture. But they're really clean. If the fanciness of the room is important enough to you to pay more, by all means do so. But if you want a nice and really cheap place to stay while you enjoy travelling around SF, you could do MUCH worse.
We stayed here because the description and pictures looked nice, and it was reasonably close to Union Square. This hotel is very old an needs to be completetly remodeled. The walls are very thin, the sliding glass door was almost impossible to open and close, and the bathroom was like a hospital bathroom due to the industrial toilet. The parking garage is dingier and more confusing than your average SF garage. Jack Tars Bar was also a diappointment, the chicken strips we ordered were a freezer burned mystery maet.
