The location was great in some ways: excellent view of Marina and Sunset, unless you're on 1st floor where there's no view, and we could ride bikes to seaport village (little over 2 miles, very nice ride). There are 2 buildings for this hotel--the main building is nicer, updated and doesn't smell as badly. The older building, further down the road smells certain times of the day as if there is a sewage line nearby. The staff changed our room for the second night, but we were in a room with double bed on first floor. Other than the smell (could have been from something in the Marina), we enjoyed our stay.
While the room was pleasant the hotel over all felt old and dirty. The public spaces were small and always very crowded. I stayed on the seventh floor and the elevators were few and very slow.
The room and had a wonderful view of the city and marina.
The hotel was 40% full for when we were there...They tell you they are "sold out" in the marina tower and promptly send anyone on priceline to the BAY TOWER - Which has ZERO amenities. Just a pool and a hot tub. The parking is ridiculous. Its a huge paved lot, that is NOT secure - and yet you have to pay $22/day. The room was nicely decorated however the carpet was stained and in some areas sticky. Totally not a 4 star property.
