It offers everything a discerning traveler could ask for when looking for upscale, professional and demanding requirements. Its relatively small property size gives a great feeling of intimacy and a 'special' location. The complaints about the rooms are really complaints about the Craftsman ethos. The rooms are huge, impeccably decorated with the highest quality furnishings. The baths are very large with seperate soaking tub and shower. The rooms are funished in dark woods but the task lighting is excellent and carefully thought out. The gym is top notch with great cardio, weight machines and even free weights.. Read review

The hotel is beautifully appointed and should be situated in the mountains with a river to it's side. The rooms are spacious and the grounds are aesthetically pleasing. The only little downfall is that the main lobby has a beautiful wood fireplace running 24/7 and the "campfire" smoke permeates the entire hotel grounds. Once you walk outside, you smell like you've been making smores. Otherwise, the property is beautiful.
We stayed for 3 nights at the Lodge at Torrey Pines, with 2 small children ages 3 and a 5 month old infant - the service was fantastic - there but not in your face, the room was very large (we didn't pony up for a view) with a balcony, the restaurant was great, and the facilities were top notch - beautiful pool, spacious fitness center and of course, the course at Torrey Pines (which is not part of the hotel, but they have 'special priviledges' there) - they helped find us a babysitting service so it made our stay even that better.
A beautiful facility with very helpful staff. Food and service at The Grill was excellent and well-priced. Two problems. I could have sworn that the package detail included free parking -- no, no, no. It was $22 per night to self park. I thought that - for the price of the room - the self-parking should have been much, much less (if not free). Second problem - the "business area" that contained a PC, printer, and phone (rooms have free internet access, but no printers), was nothing more than a small, converted closet with a single dim ceiling light. We'd definitely stay there again if someone else paid the bill, but the extravagence (for us) was just a one-time event.
Lodge at Torrey Pines is in the most idealic locations. It is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. After a long days work and a long drive I was looking forward to the serenity that was promised in the advertisments. When I arrived, I was pleasantly greeted and all seem to go well. After a long drive I really had to use the restroom and imagine my horror when I noticed feces on the toilet seat. I phoned the front desk immediately and a man came up with a plunger and no santizing equipment. I explained I didn't need the plunger I needed a rag and santizing equipment. I called the front desk again and I finally got housekeeping to arrive. While I was on the phone I noticed how much crusty, yes crusty, filth was on the ear piece of the phone receiver. Next, when I ordered a movie, the system froze, but still managed to charge me. I never got to see a movie (the morning clerk removed the charges after U explained my situation. I was really happy I was only staying one night for business. A side from the unsanitary conditions and the entertainment inconvenience; I must admit that their gym has up to date equipment and it very sanitary, there is an employee that does a wonderful job at keeping the facility clean. The food is remarkable and the room service arrives rapidly. The views are amazing! The ambience of the entire hotel has the potential for a relaxing amazing getaway.
