North Austin Plaza Hotel and Suites - Austin, USA     

Tried to book a room for a upcomming event, and i was treated like garbage! Before i could actually talk to some one i was on hold for 20min. and then i was told they had rooms avaible for $79 a night three times, but i was put on hold again! Then, when the came back, they told me told me they where $109 a night. So i told them no, thats not was i was just told! and the told my girlfriend that she didnt need to stay here! what kind of crappy service is that?

Let me start my review by complimenting the front desk staff. I had booked a stay with this hotel through an online reservation engine and, upon discovering that the reservation was for the wrong day, attempted repeatedly to reach a customer service agent. Each time, I was unable to reach a human being; instead, I was diverted to the reservation engine's computerized customer service system. The manager of the hotel, Rodney Thomas, and one of the front desk staff, Nathan Whitaker, attempted to help me by giving me other numbers for the engine, to no avail. Finally, Mr. Thomas was kind enough to change the reservation for me, at the price I had paid on the search engine. I cannot thank him and Mr. Whitaker enough for their help. The hotel itself is located just off I-35, with easy access to the highway. There are numerous restaurants nearby, including Fuddrucker's and Denny's, as well as ample shopping. The downtown area is about five miles away; the University of Texas is about three miles from the hotel. My room was large, with a king-sized bed and a couple of desks. I found the mattress a little hard, but not overly so. I wished there had been a refrigerator or microwave in the room. There is wireless internet access, though it is not secure. Also, there is a $2.50 "amenities fee," whether one uses the internet or other amenities in the room, or not.
