Herodion Hotel - Athens, Greece 

What a huge, huge, enormous dissappointment. We arrived from Mykonos. And after seeing the island we were so dissappointed. Mind you I already braced myself that we were coming from a majestic island to a busy, noisey city...but the city was just filled with dirty streets and graffiti everywhere...and then to arrive at a hotel that was stuck in the 60s was just the ultimate letdown. The hotel needs a major makeover. The whole hotel is carpeted which gives it that musty old smell, the rooms smell the same, by far the most lumpiest bed i ever felt in my life, the bedding was sooo old i hardly wanted to cover myself with them. Just old, old, old. Maybe this was a 4 star standard on an Athenian scale but as far as i was concerned it was not my style at all. If you can pay more for a truly luxury hotel then do it, because after long days in a busy, unattractive city (aside from the Acropolis) you want to come home to a retreat and sactuary not this Brady Bunch era hotel. Even the staff seemed to be bothered by you, so not like the staff on the hotels on the Greek island (with the exception of the young man Chris with was sweet and helpful). Sorry Herodian but you need to step up your game if you want to have people come back. If it wasn't for the opportunity to see the Acropolis i would have totaly eliminated this stop on my trip.
