My husband and two sons (5 & 8) spent four nights at the HGVC while doing the Disney thing. I was pleasantly surprised at how roomy and attractive our suite was. We had a one bedroom with a pullout couch, which our boys slept on. The king sized bed was very comfy, like being at home! Everything was clean and decorated tastefully. Towels folded decoratively, Starbucks coffee provided. We were gone much of the time at the parks but it was a nice homebase to come back to each evening. We ate at the poolside grill the first evening and it was pretty good. The pool itself was lovely. Although there were no slides or extra cool stuff, my sons had a ball there on the last evening. It's a large resort with 6 or 7 different villas (buildings). We were in #6, which meant we had to walk a ways to get to the main pool and building. But it's a pleasant walk over a bridge and only took about 5 minutes. On nights where we returned after 10:00, there was no parking near our villa, which meant we had to park at the main building and a hotel van drove us to our villa. We never had to wait for a ride and it was only a minor inconvenience. In the morning, you simply call and someone is right there to pick you up to return you to your car. There is a free shuttle to the Universal parks and Sea World, but a $12/person charge for the shuttle to the Disney parks. We had our own car so we drove instead. The HGVR can provide you with a printout of directions and all kinds of info on places to visit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I wasn't sure if there would be but we did have maid service each day and fresh towels delivered without asking. For the $ we spent, (about $155/night) this place was an amazing value and I would highly recommend it.

Our stay at this hotel was disappointing to say the least. Whilst the complex itself if very nice, there are certain aspects that do not meet the standards I have come to expect from the Hilton chain. If you are a Diamond HHonors member don't expect any of the usual preferential treatment. This is no exec. lounge, no room upgrades and no comp. breakfast. All you receive is a "$10" one off discount coupon. Check in is at 4pm and check out is at 10am, so if you are thinking of overnighting here...don't bother. We arrived at 1pm and were told we would be called when our room was ready. There was no call and we finally checked in at 7pm. Our first room was horrible. There was a very strong chemical smell in the room that is apparently used to mask the humidy/mold. It was so strong that after 10 min. my eyes were burning. The Resort Manager came to our room and at about 10pm we were moved to a 1 Bedroom suite. This was very nice but the following day we were told we would have to move. I am not a big fan of packing and unpacking at the best of times. The new room was stock standard. Overall our impression of this hotel is that they are out to attract families with a view of selling them "time share". Some of the service was great while other aspects were mediocre. Finally, the greatest surprise was that there was no restaurant on site. Horrible breakfast is available from an overpriced deli. I suppose most families eat in, but with no room service this is far from the resort standard we have come to expect.
