We were very pleased with our stay at the Doubletree Suites. Our rooms were spotless and there was plenty of space for larger families and all of their luggage. I sometimes feel the Disney resort rooms don't leave a lot of room for luggage. I like that these rooms come with a nice table that you can actually eat at and play cards at during the afternoon thunderstorm. The door between the bedroom and the living area is simply a folding door so if people are planning to go to bed at different times, the noise and light in the living room area might bother those trying to sleep.
We were there at the very end of June so it was crowded. Everytime we went to use the lobby elevator, we usually found there was a line of around 10 people ahead of us, which meant always having to wait for a second elevator. I guess more elevators would be nice but not something the hotel can reasonably do.
We walked to downtown disney (about 10-15 min) and although the Doubletree is the most distant hotel from downtown Disney on Hotel Blvd, it was a pretty walk. Also, it's only about 30 seconds to drive from the hotel to the Crossroads shopping area which was very convenient.
The breakfast is expensive if you are paying full price. There is a typical cold buffet with cereals, yogurt, and fruit and then an area with eggs, omelets, bacon, home fries. The waitstaff were always asking each party if they had vouchers for breakfast and most did. I think the waitstaff felt it was an expensive meal for what you got without any voucher. One family didn't have their voucher and the waitress actually called the front desk to see if the family was entitled to one. It was really nice of her since she discovered they were entitled. The typical voucher allowed for a free cold buffet and then you could pay something to have the hot breakfast. I booked a package online that allowed for a free cold buffet for the two adults in our party and our children. We were surprised when the front desk told us we actually would get the entire breakfast buffet for free. I think it was because we are also Hilton Honors members, the combination of the two benefits meant a free buffet for us. If you are a Hilton Honors member, make sure the hotel knows so that you'll get some sort of voucher.
The pool area was lovely and clean although you do hear the noise from the street and I-4 on the other side of the bushes. The bushes give you plenty of visual privacy from the roads though. There is also a game room and an outdoor pool table and what looked to be a very nice, well equipped fitness room.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

We stayed for 4 nights. I chose the hotel because it is a suite and we had hilton honors points to burn. The front desk clerk wasn't overly friendly but the rest of the staff we ran in to was. One gentleman gave my son a birthday button and let him talk to goofy on the phone. The rooms are nice and clean and it had the nice double tree bedding that I really like.
The first day we took the shuttle to the parks but it was way too crowded and it took too long so we just drove and paid the $11 to park the next couple of days.
The pool is large and kid-friendly but it backs up to Apopka-Vineland Rd. and I-4 which is very noisy. The food service at the pool needs some improvement. The service was slow because there was only one person working.
Overall a good hotel. If you're only going to Disney, I'd recommend that you stay on property, but if you're going in to Orlando or to Sea World and Universal this would be a good location.
